The Comic
Gothic Sibling Chaos
Victor & Violet is told through
short four-panel comic strips
inspired by classic newspaper comics.
Each strip follows the twins
through everyday vampire problems,
supernatural experiments,
strange discoveries,
and the occasional consequence
of Victor ignoring perfectly good advice.
The stories are simple,
character-driven,
and usually end with somebody
learning absolutely nothing.
The Studio
Woeful Studio
Woeful Studio is an independent
creative brand focused on
original characters,
comics,
illustration,
and wonderfully strange ideas.
Victor & Violet is the flagship
comic currently growing
under the Woeful Studio name.
This website serves as the twins'
official home on the internet.
How It Started
From One Drawing to Neitherwood
Victor and Violet began
with one spontaneous drawing.
Victor was sitting on his bed,
while his sister appeared
from underneath it.
At the time,
the twins were not even called
Victor and Violet.
Their original names were
Edgar and Susan.
But the more they were drawn,
the more their personalities
began to take shape.
Eventually,
Edgar and Susan became
Victor and Violet.
One drawing became another.
Then came comic ideas,
character designs,
jokes,
and the beginnings
of their own little world.
That world became
Neitherwood.
Sometimes an entire comic begins
because two tiny vampires
refuse to leave your sketchbook.
The Creator
Annabelle D. Jaime
Annabelle is the artist
and creator behind
Victor & Violet
and Woeful Studio.
Her creative work centers around
illustration,
original characters,
comics,
and combining cute designs
with gothic,
spooky,
and supernatural themes.
Victor & Violet is an independently
created project,
written and illustrated
as a growing series
of short comic strips.
Created with ink,
questionable ideas,
and an alarming number of bats.
